A Time of Renewal

I love Spring!  Despite my horrible allergies, I LOVE this time of year!  I sat outside during the little warm snap we had a couple of weeks back and watched my kids play in the backyard.  The Martins were singing and swooping around, the baby calves were playing in the nearby pasture, and the sun warmed my dry winter skin.  I could not help but look at the trees and plants that seemed to be stretching their arms and sprouting their spring leaves and think to myself, “How can anyone NOT believe in God?”

This time of rebirth and renewal just before Easter always gives me great pause to think about the circle of life.  After my father passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, I clung to the passage from Ecclesiastes regarding the time for everything under the sun: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.”

Days later I would find out I was pregnant with our first child after years of trying.  Talk about renewed hope!  She was born in the Spring, and though we spend our first Easter together in the hospital with complications, I knew without a shadow of a doubt how much God loved me.

He loves you that much too!  Whatever season you may be in right now, it is only temporary.  We don’t always understand or have the privilege of knowing the purpose of our tears and trials, but God works all things together for good for those who believe in Him.  Hang in there, sweet friends, and hold on to hope.  A new day dawns every morning, ripe with possibility and new beginnings!  Just look around you at this beautiful Spring as it blossoms forth from a long, cold winter!

I am a native New Yorker, born and raised. After 21 years of living in the cement jungle, I felt compelled to move to my true home, the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. On this enchanted, Caribbean island I met my one true love, Jesus! Everything changed and what a wonderful journey it has been. My Masters is in “Life of Hard-knocks”! Gotta love it! I am a single mom supported by the most amazing and eccentric family! We love people & enjoy creating unforgettable memories! I am “Mama Bear” to an amazing young man named Joseph-Elijah and a “Glam-ma” to the most precious 1 year old, Ethel.  And I love to the moon and back my daughter (thanks to my baby boy), the lovely Ms. Brittany Burns-Gonzalez. I am blessed! In Puerto Rico, I studied and acquired my Advanced Certification in Massage & Bodywork. I am board certified and have acquired crazy hours in continuing education; rest assured, I can cater to your needs in bodywork. Twenty some odd years later, I am still practicing Massage & Bodywork all around the world & just loving life! I’ve worked in multiple facets of the industry, training, management, consulting you name it; I live to serve and love it! I can’t say it enough, but I truly love what I do and do what I love. So a little bit about me: I enjoy listening to music especially Sounds like LOVE which is instrumental radio, funky beats. I love to read books and articles on my beloved profession because we don’t know everything, and that’s a fact. Times are always changing! I Netflix and enjoy psychological thrillers, animated features, and foreign films. I love to dance as though I were a Rockstar on stage in the privacy of my boudoir. I am an early bird and love to eat, so cooking is fun, but New York pizza is hands down my favorite meal. Quiet moments are my favorite; Just Jesus & me! Yep, that about sums me up. As a conscientious Massage Therapist & Bodywork Practitioner I enjoy exercise & promote alternative holistic health through a variation of therapies and treatments. It’s important for me to educate and motivate everyone (newborn, young, old and everything in between) to see manual therapy as not a luxury but a necessity. Awareness is key to achieving balance. Incorporating amazing healthcare professionals, physical activity, beneficial and balanced nutritional choices, and also integrating massage and bodywork regularly through a variety of modalities will assist in achieving this balance. Massage and Bodywork are defined as those modalities and techniques that employ procedures intended to affect soft tissue and/or the energetic system of the human body achieving “SYNERGY”.
